What goes into a quote
Size
Bigger containers cost more to haul and to dump, though not in proportion to their volume.
Weight allowance
Each rental includes a set tonnage. Going over is billed, usually per ton.
Rental length
A standard period is included; extra days are charged. Ask the daily rate.
What's in it
Heavy or special material such as shingles, concrete or yard waste may be priced differently.
Where you are
Distance from the company's yard and the disposal site both play a part.
Permits
A street placement adds the city permit and the insurance certificate.
Ask these before you book
- Which costs are included: delivery, pickup, disposal, and how many tons?
- What is charged for each ton over the allowance, and for each extra day?
- Are mattresses, tires or appliances charged separately if they slip in?
- Is there a fee if the truck can't reach the spot, or if the box is overfilled?
- Can the drop-off or pickup date move, and does moving it cost anything?
Ways to keep it down
Pick the smallest size that fits, keep heavy debris separate, finish the loading inside the included days, and keep banned items out so nothing has to be picked out and returned. Booking a little ahead in spring and early summer, when demand peaks, also gives you more choice of dates.
Ready to book a roll-off?
Have the address, the project and a rough idea of how much is going in. The company on the phone quotes the size, the drop-off date and the price.
