Fitting it on the lot
Since the street is off the table, measure the driveway before you call. A shorter 10 or 15 yard box is often the answer on tight lots, with a second haul if the job runs long. Tell the company about low branches and wires over the drive: the truck needs height to set the box down.
Registering is quick, so do it as soon as you have a drop-off date rather than waiting to see whether the job runs past three days.
Trash works differently here
Households hire a private hauler licensed by the city, and the city's rear-yard pickup rule keeps trash containers beside or behind the house rather than at the curb. Ask your own hauler about large items first. For a basement or garage worth of them, a roll-off is simpler.
Brush and leaves go out weekly in the city's yard waste and food scrap composting program, from early April into early December, so a light yard cleanup may not need a container at all.
Ready to book a roll-off?
Have the address, the project and a rough idea of how much is going in. The company on the phone quotes the size, the drop-off date and the price.
