What the city takes, and what it doesn't
The seasonal yard waste site at 5068 Breton Ave SE takes leaves, grass, brush, logs and untreated wood from Kentwood households with proof of address. Rocks, pavers and construction materials are turned away. So a patio teardown or retaining-wall rebuild needs a container; trimming the hedges does not.
The city's spring community cleanup day has taken furniture, mattresses, appliances and electronics, but not concrete, dirt or roofing. So for a roof tear-off or a concrete job, Kentwood homeowners need another route, and a roll-off is the usual one.
Kentwood projects that fit a roll-off
Paver patio or walkway
Pavers, base gravel and edging are heavy: a 10 yard box, kept to the company's fill height.
Shingle roof
A one-layer roof on a typical ranch or two-story often goes in a 20 yard container.
Finished basement redo
Carpet, pad, drywall and paneling: light enough for a 15 or 20 yard.
Chemicals and electronics
Kent County runs a SafeChem household chemical drop-off at the Kentwood public works yard, but that site doesn't take electronics; the county lists other drop-offs for TVs and computers. Neither belongs in the dumpster.
Ready to book a roll-off?
Have the address, the project and a rough idea of how much is going in. The company on the phone quotes the size, the drop-off date and the price.
